-
Turn off your lights,
television, DVD player, Hi Fi, computer etc. when not in
use.
Use energy-saving light bulbs
Turn down the thermostat by 1 to 2
degrees C
Fill your dish
washer and washing machine with a full load -
this will save you water,
electricity, and washing powder.
Hang out the washing to dry
at times rather than tumble drying it. This
will also provide humidity in your room and
spare the humidifier from running.
Fill the kettle with only as
much water as you need
Plan your weekly shopping in a single
trip
Whenever possible, walk, car pool or use
public transit
Buy potted plants/flowers
which last longer (weeks and even months) and help to absorb
carbon dioxide in the air rather than cut flowers that die
in less than a week and create more carbon dioxide/methane
in decay
Recycle as much as possible,
in particular take great care in the disposal of CFL bulbs
